What is the metaverse?
Describing a new technology is always a risk, especially when you are not entirely sure how it will work or be used, but that is even more complicated with the metaverse. This is because it does not yet exist, so the various definitions out there are talking about slightly different visions of the future.
Perhaps the best way to conceptualize the metaverse is “as the lived internet, or at least rendered in 3D,” as NPR said (https://www.npr.org/2021/10/28/1050280500/what-metaverse-is-and-how-it-will-work). To get a little more technical, the metaverse will be persistent (or non-stop), synchronous, and live, it will have no user limit, and it will provide a sense of “presence,” something Zuckerberg has repeatedly pointed out when discussing the metaverse.
More aligned with Check Commerce’s purpose, the metaverse will be a fully functioning economy. It is a tempting prospect for those already involved in online commerce, because more than just meaning another channel for selling physical products (and we all know how important it is to be omnichannel), it can also mean selling new products in the metaverse. You bought a Ferrari, so why not also buy a Ferrari NFT for your avatar to drive in the metaverse? After all, we will have a “real” digital life.
And how does this apply to e-commerce?
With the ever-increasing acceleration of technology, especially after the Covid pandemic, we can say that many companies are investing more and more in this new feature to add value and provide a better customer experience, allowing consumers to explore other ways of experiencing things, trying on clothes virtually, or even feeling as if they were in a physical store.
A great example of this was the company Lacta, which implemented the metaverse in its e-commerce, creating a 100% 3D virtual store. The new e-commerce uses immersive 360 technology, which allows users to have the same experience as if they were in a physical store while browsing.
Adapting to this new trend is essential to achieve more promising results and pass this on in the best way possible to the consumer journey, as consumers increasingly seek innovative experiences. Therefore, those who get ahead will be one step ahead when the metaverse becomes an immutable reality.
Make your company’s experience unique with an innovative e-commerce platform that is 100% prepared to always achieve the best results!
