Post office begins requiring invoices for shipping goods

And the news for the coming year keeps coming. Starting January 2, 2018, all online stores that operate with the Correios will be required to follow new requirements. The measure is an adjustment to comply with current tax legislation.
The country's main carrier will start requesting the invoice of the goods at the time of posting, which must be attached to the outside of the package. Those who do not present the goods following the new Correios guidelines will have the posting refused. This also includes all orders where the shipping labels were issued through SIGEP WEB, where the values have already been declared.
Shopkeepers classified as MEI (Individual Microentrepreneur) are not required to issue an invoice for sales to individuals, however, they will need to use the content declaration form.
It is a simple adjustment, but it will add more steps to the shipping process within the warehouses, in addition to millions of sheets of paper printed daily. It is recommended to position the invoice with the barcode visible to facilitate checking at dispatch.
